I feel like a bad mom because my younger two children are actually wearing storebought costumes. But I guess this won't affect their ability to survive to adulthood.
Costumes this year:
Alma: royal messenger (medieval style): hood, tunic with rope knotted around for a belt, "parchment" scroll
Lemuel: circuit board (with processor, cache memory, RAM, power supply, and USB port)
Lehi: musketeer
Nephi: sailor/naval officer
Zoodada: wizard (for something like the 16th consecutive year)
Me: Medusa (only the 5th consecutive year, I think)
Tonight's excitement was the church Halloween party. The young men had put together a maze, complete with smoke machine. Alas, they set the "smoke" a bit too heavy, which set off the fire alarm. So of course, we had to wait until the fire department showed up to get the alarm turned off...I think some of the younger set thought that the visit from the fire department was planned! At least the firemen were laughing at the whole incident.
