Robert William "Willy" Pickton found
guilty of six counts of second degree murder.
Six down. Twenty to go. No guarantee he'll even go to trial on those, but because of differing evidence, they're first degree charges. The current convictions mean six life terms. In Canada, a guilty verdict on second degree means 25 years with no chance of parole. So they might think "He's not ever getting out. He'll die in prison. Why put the families through an expensive trial for which we will NEVER find an impartial jury?" But the Crown is preparing its case, so who knows?
I'm tired and sad. I wrote about it
here. Goodnight.
