Its always great to stand on Monday and look back over the weekend that has blown past and realize that it was done right. What a wonderful weekend. Things started off nicely on Friday night when I played music for Stitches party. I am still not sure if it is technically DJing or not so for now I just like to say I played music. Actually I have to say I rocked the fucking house and raised Prague's roof about 10 feet higher. I brought my A-game, not my A+ game but it was a solid set. I was able to integrate my Axiom 25 midi controller into traktor which resulted in smoother effect sweeps and effect triggers with the pads. i really like where I am going with my track selection and the familiarity I am gaining with traktor and my setup. I also used vinyl control disks so I was beat-matching by ear all night. That added a challenging element but allowed me to feel more connected to the music. I love how vinyl feels on the fingertips. I struggled with Prague's setup. Their technics 1200's had loose platters and I do not think they were very well calibrated so my mixes tended to slip a bit. I hate Pioneer mixers but I did the best with what I had. All in all a solid performance and it was alot of fun.
Saturday I slept in and then went to the freaks choice chili cookoff at the flipside warehouse. That was a whole lot of awesome and I had epic chili eating. Beer, friends, chili, sunshine, victory. Sat night we went to Princess and Rachel's quiceanera. I put on pink and sparkle y princess dress with a long shimmery white skirt underneath and went to hang out with good friends. I was tired but it was a good time. The moonbounce was a nice touch.
Sunday I slept in and did as little as possible. I surprised Alissa with Roses and a card for Valentine's Day and proceeded to be ultra lazy. It was nice. alissa then surprised me with fancy steaks and lobster tails that we cooked up. It was a delicious dinner. Then alissa surprised me with chocolate mousse, miles of chocolate and raspberries. Delicious does not begin to describe that desert. A nice evening lounging around with Alissa to cap off the weekend. Victory on so many fronts.
