Well, I did accomplish (more or less) everything on my list that I set out to do.
Bicycle tire is repaired. Just need to put it back on now. Cost, $7 US. The stem is longer, but that's no big deal.
I picked up the mail and dropped off everything I needed to at Goodwill. Just a little down the road, I went and bought a snow shovel for the residence and attempted to have a copy of the van key made.
As it turns out, when we left the dome light to the van was left on, thus resulting in a dead battery upon our return. We were alerted to this a day or so out, but nothing could be done since all the van keys were in our possession, with none left at home. Unfortunately the new copy doesn't work. I'm thinking it's just because I used my key as the master, and it's so worn down any copies made from it would be wonky at best. So we'll leave the mate's key with our tenant and he'll go have a key made down at the locksmith Monday I guess, since he was closed today.
So when picking up the mail I did get my new work boots and my Medifast food. Alas, I still don't have a new debit card. I lost mine and a replacement probably got returned due to the mailing address being bad. Argh. I'll have to try yet again.
I got to the laundromat and shoved both the diesel smelling clothes and some old camping linens (blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, cases) all got shoved in and done. Everything came out nicely except the articles that were splashed with diesel, although they stink less.
While I was there I looked up on the phone how to get diesel smell out of clothing. Wow, consider that! The first suggestion I had already tried. Let them soak for 24hrs in a bucket with soap and water. That got me to the current state. Now I'm trying the 2nd suggestion, which is wash them, and add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. Hey, maybe I'll just smell like a salad after this.
