002 of 100: the bloggess (knock knock, motherfucker.)

Next up on the list of POP CULTURE YOU SHOULD KNOW is The Bloggess, AKA Jenny Lawson. I can't remember who introduced me to the inspired insanity that is this blog, but I am very grateful to them. I've been following Jenny Lawson for a couple years now, and I still think there are few things on the Internet funnier than the origin story of Beyonce the giant metal chicken (seriously: just click and read).

Why should you know about Jenny Lawson? Because not only is she fucking hysterical, and a brilliantly witty writer -- she's also an ardent speaker on mental health issues like anxiety disorders and depression. She created the Traveling Red Dress project to inspire ladies all over the world to embrace themselves and pursue what makes them happy.

Also, she has the best obsession ever re: taxidermied animals wearing awesome clothes. See: Hamlet von Schnitzel (who is on the cover of her recently released and imminently readable memoir Let's Pretend This Never Happened, which I just so happened to finish today, hence this post), the mouse acting out Hamlet's "To be or not to be" soliloquy; Martin van Buren the vampire hunter duckling; Juanita Weasel, who is always burning her motherfucking souffles; James Garfield, the smiley boar mounted to a plaque; and Jean Louise the gay pirate alligator.

And she has a bizarre (meaning AWESOME) passion for getting pictures of famous people with twine, especially Nathan Fillion (to no avail). Though she DOES have people like Wil Wheaton, Neil Gaiman, Matthew Broderick, and Brian Boitano in her corner, so that's BOSS.

Seriously, people. Sirius Black, even. This is how awesome The Bloggess is. Just go to her blog, start reading, and see if you ever come back up for air. She has eleven years worth of posts. And almost all of them are awesome.

YOU ARE WELCOMED.

100 things, brb loling forever
