A few words on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (and why the hell not?):
Back when I was 8 and 9 years old all of my role models, chief among them being Michelangelo, were teenagers. Until recently I hadn't considered why this was. I suppose it was because a teenage represented to my young mind the ability to do all the cool things adults get to do, stay up late, watch R rated movies, and kick the hell outta the footclan, yet still being free of the responsibility of getting a job and paying bills.
Michelangelo got to have fun and eat pizza (my two primary concerns as an 8 year old) but still didn't have a bedtime. He was awesome.
Man, I couldn't wait to be a teenager. When i wasn't pretending to be Michelangelo I was pretending to be other various teenagers. Teenage space marine, teenage stuntman, teenage robot, teenage assassin, teenage cult master. You name it, I teenaged it.
Ironically enough, ages 13 through about 16.8 turned out to be a 24 hour Suckies with drive-thru, serving Super-sized Suck Shakes with yak shit toppings.
Personally I think it would have been helpful if the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could have warned me about the coming teenage angst.
Also, I think its kinda of depressing that while as an 8 year old, I dreamed of being a teenage space marine, here I am a few days away from being 25, and I haven't had one day of laser rifle training.
