HERE IS A MEME
(from
greennix)
Name a band/artist that...
-Reminds you of an ex-lover: Twisted Sister. David Bowie ("Space Oddity"). Violent Femmes. Dead Milkmen.
-Reminds you of an ex-friend: Faith No More. Doobie Brothers ("Black Water").
-Makes you sad, but in a good way: Sarah McLachlan. Hooverphonic. Tujiko Noriko. Massive Attack. Too many, I like depressing music, what?
-Makes you laugh: Bell Biv Devoe, I laugh with glee because it still sounds good to me and reminds me of better times. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
-Makes you smile: Oingo Boingo. The Ramones. Voltaire. Pizzicato Five.
-You never want to hear again: Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, I am so sick of them. And anyone who tries to sing their songs.
-Sums up your teenage years: Portishead. The Queers. Ruby.
-You want to get married to: Uh, I got married to Purcell's symphony from "The Fairy Queen" as my processional, and Handel's "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" for my recessional.
-You like to wake up to: I don't, I like to wake up slowly. I guess Kings of Convenience or A.R. Rahman.
-You like out of your parents record collection: Simon and Garfunkel. Steve Miller Band. Pink Floyd.
-You love that you wouldn't know about if it wasn't for a friend: Rammstein. Bjork. OverClocked Remix. Philip Glass.
-Reminds you of your now crush/love: Psychedelic Furs. Ryuichi Sakamoto. Royksopp.
-Makes you think of sex: Lovage (obvious). Peaches (obvious). Electrocute. Missy Elliott.
-Makes you think of being alone: Unto Ashes. Sneaker Pimps. Morcheeba. Nine Inch Nails. Black Tape for a Blue Girl.
-Has only been released recently but you love already: I like Gnarls Barkley, but I wouldn't call it love yet. But anyone who covers "Gone Daddy Gone" can't be all bad.
-Are embarrassed to admit you like: ABBA. Evanescence.
So much time spent on a meme that doesn't even cover what Kosheen and Kraftwerk and Fischerspooner and Pepe Deluxe and El-P and Del tha Funky Homosapien and others fill in my lonely life but WHATEVA

Started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer now, 3 or 4 weekly, with Beardo and a friend who's seen the whole series but wants to see them again. I had never watched them the first time around, mostly because at first I thought it would be as silly as the movie, and later because I hate jumping in in the middle in a series. So now we're renting the DVDs through Netflix, and so far we're in Season 2 and it's remarkably well-written, sharp, even with silly storylines. The friend likes to compare it to Veronica Mars, which I also have not seen, but he says has the same kind of tone.
I've also just started playing Gothic on the same friend's recommendation, and the controls are a bitch. Anyone play it, is it worth the trouble?
Going to change doctors soon, after the latest MRIs come back. I'm so very, very tired of the same old bullshit from my primary doctor and my neurologist. I hope I still get to see the same neurosurgeon if necessary, but I'm not holding my breath.
Beardo and I just celebrated our 4 (four!) year anniversary of our first date. OMG
