Last Days Part II

My last class, which was my first class I ever taught at this school. Marie is the only child still remaining from the very first day.

Before the crying.
Back row, left to right: Damon, Mark, Troy, Jenny, me, Kerry, and Honey.
Front row, left to right: Faye (in red), Helena, Marie, and Wendy.

Jenny, Marie, Honey, and Kerry are my teens. These are the girls that have been bringing new words to class every week, and stumping me with their pronunciation/spelling of same. They're also very screamy -- they at that age. But unlike western kids, they're still kids at 12 and 13.

My sweet Marie. Studious, usually quiet unless there's a game going, beautiful, and just a lovely girl. Tonight, she just about made me die laughing. We have a game called "blow ball" where one kid from each team has to blow a ball across the floor into a goal. Well, Marie's ball ended up underneath Troy's ass, and when it rolled there she sat back on her knees, pointed and screamed in girlie embarrassment. I'll never forget her face at that moment.

Lovely, dorky, gawky Kerry. She's at an awkward age poor thing, and I found her to be incredibly obnoxious when she first began with me. Now she works hard and has toned down the attention getting antics. She's gonna be a great person as an adult.

Honey. She chose that name herself and goodness it's appropriate. Unfortunately, she never smiles in pictures, so you can't really see how lovely she is. She's been the source of most of the new words in class. (This is also how unflattering an ao dai can look if you forget to stand up straight.)

Helena, the new girl. What a sweet kid.

Here's the one what did me in tonight. Jenny. She started sobbing when she pulled out the gift and card she had for me, and that got me started, which got Marie started, which got Honey started... Jenny always has at least one question per night on a word or phrase, and it always turns into 10 questions and none of them easy. Like, she wanted me to explain "physics" one night. I call her "Worms: One Can Opened." And we both were just unable to stop weeping while Diep took this picture.

Diep, my TA, who's still a bit terrified of me.

And I dare you not to get sniffly at this.
