Hooray! I'm half way through my first bear - it's such a quick knit, a lovely change from the sweater I'm in the middle of for myself, which is taking aaaaaaaaaaaages.

I did pass the details on to my kniting group but nobody has indicated directly to me that they want to be involved, and I don't see any of their names on your list there to imply they've let you know directly.

Also Matthew is intrigued by this and very worried about the concept of children with no Mummies and Daddies and no toys! I had to stop him packaging up some of his toys to send off too :-) I'll get him to draw a picture on the tags for my bears so he can be involved too.

I'm going to have a go, but please don't count me as a definite, because I am not at all convinced that my knitting skills are up to it, and things are pretty crazy for me between now and December. But, I will give it my best shot!

That's anyone can ask!

You can do it!

I don't know how I missed those first posts about it. I'd be happy to contribute at least one bear. We'll see how much knitting my wrists allow these days. :-P

Just to verify, you said you wanted a gift tag w/ name and any desired message... A specific tag like is used on the pattern, or would any gift tag work? Also, do you want a red heart sewn to the bear's chest or no?

Yay! Knitting!

Thank you! That's lovely.

Any gift tag will work. Please don't sew a heart on the bear, as I am NOT affiliated or working with the Mother Bear Project and so would not wish to misrepresent the donation to the orphanage (or anyone else).

The pattern, as far as I can tell, isn't copyrighted.

It's a really lovely idea!

I can't knit, but like eanja and theodicy, I'd be happy to fund supplies or postage.

I only just spotted this, but if you'd like to pick some yarn I'll happily knit a bear in your name!

(or if you even just want to give me some colour guidance I can choose something, if that's easier...)

Did you mean me? I'd be happy to have bears sent to me and take them with me, and I want to try knitting one but October and November are so cram-packed full of activities I'm afraid to sign up. So for now, I guess anyone who wants to send theirs to me can email and I'll send back my address. Would that work?

I love this project, it's such a great idea!
