Itsy Bits

Okay, feeling a little better now. I've been suffering from some sort of abdominal distress for the past few days, brought on no doubt, by stress and the changing weather (humidity and barometric pressure keep swinging back and forth). I still feel like my stomach is filled with broken glass, but I don't have to grit my teeth through standing upright for lessons anymore. Annoying though.

I still have to work on finding a good pace. Lesson planning is getting a bit easier too. I have three classes tomorrow, then a blessed two days off.

All in all, slightly less freaked out.

I can't find henna anywhere! Dammit!

Linen is good for clothes here. No one cares about wrinkling and it's surprisingly comfy even in hot weather. Better than cotton or silk.

The Phooka has a nice little walk on a leash up in the garden every night. Nepher can't be bothered.

It's apparently against some rule here to have unscented soap, lotion, or antiperspirant. I've got great antiperspirant, but it makes my underarms smell like some dude's cheap cologne.

Chicken is still a bit hard to find and pretty spendy, but it's slowly returning to menus at cafes and restaurants that don't cater to a western clientele.

Another rule is: don't drop your lime in your soup or porridge. Johnny Trash has always just tossed his lime rind into his pho after squeezing out the juice. This is a big no-no, as he learned to his great amusement the other morning whilst eating his porridge. Women walked from across the market to chastise, shake their fingers at him, and imperiously indicate that the lime had better come out of that bowl and right quick.

Heh.

broken cats, school, meh, girlie shit, odds and whatnots, in the city
