No Food, More Stuff

So one of the altogether weird things about my habits is I will drop money on things I want without a second thought, but procrastinate and agonize over purchases I actually need. Which is why I'm currently going to talk about all the shit I've gotten recently, while eating crackers for breakfast, because I don't want to go out and buy groceries.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1

So it's a pretty damn faithful adaption of the Frank Miller comics, covering everything with the Mutants, and I assume all the Joker and Superman stuff will be in part 2.

Peter Weller does the voice of Batman. That's pretty cool. And that's about the only nice thing I can say.

It's not that it's bad, just that they decided to cut out the internal monologue from the comic, WHICH WAS 90% OF THE CONTEXT OF THE WHOLE DAMN THING!

I know it sounds like I'm being a purist here, but I really think it loses something when you don't have Batman griping to himself that climbing buildings used to be easier, or that he didn't need to use his feet to climb up ropes before.

Also, The Dark Knight Returns was the idea of what the future would be like from the 1980s. They're pretty faithful to the source material otherwise (the newscaster's hair is the same, and God, it's so 80s zeerust), which I think is going to throw off people who never read the comic. Like, why doesn't anyone just use their cell phone to call for help??

So it's an animated film that is geared more for people who're familiar with the material, but we're going to be surly about how he's not all "Come on, old man," blah blah blah

Double Dragon Neon: And speaking of the 80s, nothing's more 80s than Double Dragon!

Some people call it a remake of the original game (which I really don't think is accurate at all) but it's basically a "new" Double Dragon game that's a cheap Xbox download, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original.

If you didn't watch the video I posted on Facebook about this, well, I'm embedding it here, because it's alot easier to watch then for me to try to gibber on about.
