And time grew wings and flew

Well, my sister graduated from high school tonight. I told myself I wouldn't cry, but damn if I did anyway. I think it was a combination of seeing my mother bawl and then receiving a flower from Lori. I wasn't expecting her to give me one, but she gave me a rose for "not killing her" all the years we've been together. We're as different as night and day, but I do love her very much. It's hard to believe that she's already heading off to college and shaping herself into the woman she wants to be. I wish her the best.

The last two weeks have been a blur. I think point form will be the best way to go about describing everything, for the sake of the flist:
-Meghan arrived from Canada on the 15th, and I spent that night scribbling down the last of my physics notes while giggling over every other thing with Meghan.
-Took my physics final on the 16th, then hit the theater to see the Star Trek movie. I have the tiniest background with the series, but the movie was fun regardless.
-Went to mass on Sunday, and said goodbye to awesome Austin priest. He is getting reassigned, a promotion of sorts, really, and I will miss him a lot. He's the only priest I've really tried to get to know in Austin, and was the one that was in charge of confirming me and leading my formation.
-I TURNED 21 ON MONDAY THE 18TH!!
-...and had to take my calculus final bright and early that morning.
-Got everything moved out and came home that day, following the final. I went to the daily mass my hometown priest was holding for me for my birthday, and then he took Meghan and me out for Mexican food and large, top shelf margaritas. Priest friends = awesome.
-Got awesome presents for my birthday. Meghan utterly spoiled me with the collector's edition of the Nine Inch Nails Ghosts I-IV CD collection, a 40-page collection of art she drew for me with illustrations from my novel and our RP (it is so gorgeous), and a tiny sculpture of a creature from my novel. <3 Her mom gave me an awesome chemistry book for kids full of nice safe experiments to do. It's so cute. My parents spoiled me with wine paraphernalia, including a set of wine glasses, a fancy corkscrew, an emerald green stopper, and two bottles of nice quality red zinfandel. They also bought me Pride and Prejudice on DVD, which Meghan and I quickly watched and loled at.
-After that we loafed around the house a lot. We watched all of House, M.D. season four, Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Exorcist, Interview with the Vampire, Slumdog Millionaire, Donnie Darko, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Monty Python's Life of Brian, and several episodes of the anime version of The Jungle Book.
-We also played through Half Life 2, Episode One and Two, and Portal. Those games were awesome, particularly Portal. I wish Valve would hurry up and get Episode Three out on the shelves though. Way to leave us on a hell of a cliffhanger. After that, we played through the first part of Bioshock. I look forward to finishing it sometime soon.
-We had various adventures in town. Ate out at nice places, and visited the bookstores, mall, and Best Buy. I picked up Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness for the DS because those games are far too cute and addicting for their own good.
-Also went to the movies to see Angels and Demons. I adored the book--it's by far my favorite out of the Dan Brown books--and was curious about how the movie would do. As a movie, it was good, but it was nothing compared to the book. They left out a rather key, and interesting, character, and barely even touched on the "villain's" motivations for what they did, which I thought added an incredibly significant layer to the plot. I was particularly disappointed because they happened to be my favorite character in the book. Augh.
-Finally got high speed internet out here in the middle of nowhere. I can keep up with Zero Punctuation this summer and play WoW on occasion!

Had to take Meghan back to the airport today and get back just in time for grad. I'm looking forward to hopefully visiting her in Canada for Christmas. *crosses fingers*

Summary of the post: It's over. o_o School, Meghan's visit, my little sister's high school experience. Wow. Now for summer to truly begin.
