This morning I had probably one of the worst customer service experiences in recent memory. I ordered a breakfast combo meal at Tim Hortons (biscuit sandwich, hash brown, and coffee) plus a bottle of water. The coffee never came, so I stood waiting. Then this conversation ensued:
TH woman barked: "What are you waiting for?"
Me surprised by her confrontational tone: "Coffee. I ordered the combo."
TH woman annoyed: "What size?"
Me: "Whatever the combo meal comes with."
TH woman: "WHAT SIZE? LARGE? MEDIUM? WHAT?"
Me glaring: "Medium."
TH woman: "What do you want in it?"
Me very confused thinking "Coffee, what else?!?!" I snapped back, "COFFEE!"
TH woman: "Just dark?"
Me: "YES DARK!" [even though I never drink dark coffee. I was just fed up.]
She grudgingly served me this coffee after this barking interaction. Then as if to explain herself, she added, "She [coworker] didn't punch in your coffee. She probably replaced your coffee with your water."
I ignored her and walked away. What I really wanted to do was throw the coffee back at her. Small incidents like these leave a bad taste in your mouth especially at the beginning of the day. I had to give a presentation soon after this incident. Had to take a breath, wipe it out of my mind, and move on.
