Con or Bust Fundraising Auction
con_or_bust (Ma href="http://community.livejournal.com/con_or_bust/"http://community.livejournal.com/con_or_bust/), assists fans of color who want to attend SFF conventions, principally WisCon.
A fundraising auction is running from Wednesday, February 24, 2010 (12:01 a.m. Eastern), through Saturday, March 13, 2010 (11:59 p.m. Eastern). Lots of delightful items -- things to please the eye, body, and palate -- are available, as are some autographed books by authors creating work in the areas of speculative fiction & poetry. There are many handcrafted items -- buy something for yourself, or start that holiday shopping early!

As stated in the "About" text, "...it began as a response to RaceFail '09, when people of color expressed the desire to help each other attend WisCon (a prominent feminist SFF convention). The community ran an auction and took donations, and through the generosity, hard work, and good will of a lot of people, raised enough money to help nine fans of color attend WisCon (2009 final report). Subsequently, the Carl Brandon Society agreed to take over the financial management of Con or Bust, allowing it to become an ongoing project."
