ah, Sunday!

Contradancing was a blast as always. I'm trying not to let the $34 parking ticket I received spoil the fun--but I will have to be more careful. There must have been 200 people there! We had to make 5 sets and usually we just have two or three. I got there a little late and had a hard time finding parking. And I don't really know how safe the neighborhood is. I met a German man who is studying economics at the U so I got to schwätz ein bissle Deutsch. And I danced with G and Mark, of course.

I got to church in time for early service, missed most of the warm-up/rehearsal. The sermon was about Jonah. Yeah, the whale story BUT what I didn't know was that Jonah didn't want to go to Ninneva not because he was scared but because he hated them so much that he WANTED God to wipe them out. Then when he went there, curtesy of the whale, and they repented, he was really pissed off. Is that a contemporary lesson, or what?!

Had a good voice lesson. I feel very encouraged. He said that what makes my voice memorable is the beauty. It means a lot to hear that from him. Listening to my lesson tape yesterday, I heard a darkness in the color that makes me sound older than a typical light lyric. I'm quite sure it's not a manufactured thing or faulty vowel formation. It's unique but could make me difficult to cast, esp in the G&S stuff.

Then this afternoon, I got the call from the conductor that he wants me to join the choir! He hasn't resolved the tenor/bass issue but he doesn't want to let me get away. That's what I like to hear! hehehe Rehearsals start tonight. So I have to miss Desperate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy. Oh well. I expect to meet some more interesting people!
