three down, one to go!

Already almost done with this rash of auditions. Turns out this one I thought would be a shoe-in but it may not be. It's not that the conductor doesn't want me, he does, but he doesn't have the men, especially tenors, to balance the women. I tell you, being a soprano you learn very quickly that life isn't always fair! We fight tooth and nail for every recognition, every audition, and the guys just show up. And you either accept that or quit. I'm thinking I should start an elite women's choir to provide opportunity/outlet for those women who can't get into the mixed choirs. But the women's choir is always the poor step-daughter. I'm not sure I'm ambitious enough to make that happen.

So after the audition, I went to a fancy shop called the Bibelot because they have such pretty things and I heard they were having a sale. I got a really cute outfit for half price (which was still not cheap). It's a little more "femme" than I usually dress but the fabric of the skirt had such a nice drape and an interesting design that I couldn't resist. It is brown with pink stripes (very narrow), has a yolk waitband and there are pleats on the side-seam near the hem. Then a pink bateau neck sweater to top it off. Now I need to get brown shoes. I justify it by calling it career wear for spring auditions and teaching. After shopping, I had lunch at a fancy restaurant (whose lunch prices aren't bad) down the street. Very yummy.

Tonight is contradancing! Tomorrow is voice lesson!
