I worked at the store 12-5. Had been told that there was a shuttle bus from the local high school to the mall on Saturdays but I went there and stood around for a while and no sign of any bus or people going shopping. So I called the store at 10 min to noon and explained where I was and that I would probably be a bit late. Evidently the shuttle this year is somewhere WEST of the mall. The stars were well-aligned for me and I actually got a relatively good parking spot for noon on a Saturday before X-mas.
After work I treated myself to dinner at Big Bowl--spicy Asian food, mmm, happy tummy. Then I went downtown for class. I figured parking would cost the same for three hours as for two so I was very early and planned to find the building where my class would be and then find some/a store to while away some time. Instead I got there in time to see the Holidazzle parade! dancenerd can correct me if I'm wrong but I think they have this parade every night from Thanksgiving to X-mas. Very cute, not very long--you know or can imagine MN winters, it has to be short for everyone involved. I hadn't really driven downtown much yet and was a little freaked out when I turned on to a street that shares traffic with the light-rail. I had this fear of getting mowed down by the train while I waited for the light to turn green.
Class was interesting. I really admire the ability of these theater people to think creatively so spontaneously. I'm always overthinking, over-analyzing, judging, second-guessing myself. I need to get through that, find some way around it. Mostly we talked about intention--what the character really means/wants while saying a line. We didn't get out until after 10PM so I just went home instead of going dancing. :( Next week I can go for the full time AND dance lots with G! He had his daughter with him this weekend so he would have only been at the first half tonight.
My Friday night gig for the near future will be babysitting my voice teacher's kids in exchange for lessons. That should be fun, I think. We're going to try for a lesson on Weds again. I hope it works--no colds, no accidents!
