another near-death driving experience
I am a little shaken still and feel lucky to be alive. We got kokopoko's storm. The rain turned to snow overnight so I had a lot of work to clean off my car this AM. As often happens, the wipers were encrusted with ice and weren't cleaning well even after I tried to clean the ice off. I thought, as the car warms up the remaining ice will melt off and they will work fine; they were fine just a few days earlier when it was raining (Sunday, that was--very heavy mist). No. Things were OK on my local highway but I was driving nearly blind on the freeway. Yikes. Very scary. Do not leave the driveway if your wipers aren't cleaning well!!! I did make it to the mall without a scratch (and just in time). Luckily I had old towels in the car so I could clean off the windshield by hand. I took the slow roads home so I didn't have to cope with spray in the dark at high speeds and not be able to pull off. I think it's still snowing. As soon as I got home, my uncle replaced my wiper blades--my dad had sent me a set. (That's my dad!)
I have a big day tomorrow! I'd better get practicing. I had a break between lessons tonight so I got to practice a little. I have a coaching tomorrow at 1:30, then an interview for another school (in Mpls proper) at 4:00 and the audition at 5:30. Then waltz in to church choir at 6:30 or so. "Oh dear, so sorry I'm late. I just sang for Philip Brunelle." And watch their jaws drop. hehehe! :) Two of our choir members sing in the National Lutheran Choir so maybe they won't be overawed. No WS tomorrow. I had already asked for the day off long before I knew about the audition.
I'm hoping to take an audition/monologue class from this woman from LA. She used to live here and now comes back once a month to teach classes on a weekend. That's what I'm asking for for Christmas. It's $300 for 6 2-hour classes. I think I would get a lot out of it and feel MUCH more confident in these auditions. Like I don't have to apologize for being "just" a singer.
