So, I made a list today of all the things that I need to see, and it is looking like even the 3 and a half weeks I have left here is not quite enough. I never realized Paris is such an enormious city that is packed to the rim with things to do. Well, actually, a normal visit wouldn't take this much time to complete, and I use that word loosely. But with classes for 5 hrs a day, mon-fri, it limits the visit time to after class and on weekends.
Friday:
Catacombs tomorrow should be cool, 1.7 km of pure human bones. Then Versailles again on Saturday.
Actually, during our visit to Versailles on Sunday, we were in a middle of a 90 min tour when 30 min into it, the entire palace was evacuated. It turned out there was an unattended baggage left in the hall of mirrors (where the treaty of Versailles was signed). Nothing blew up unfortunately, but by the time we got back to the palace at 6, everything was closing. We tried to inquire about our incomplete tour, but the French really like to be punctual when it comes to closing time, but not when they open… We tried to ask them the simple question and they were like, “No! Fermée, fermée! (closed)” So, ya, now we’re going back...
Sunday: Tour de France!!!
Yup, busy busy,
