Dental hygienist: "So, let me get this straight: Jews don't believe in Heaven and Hell."

Me: "Well, it's not that simple. According to Jewish tradition, there is no real way to know. The Bible sometimes alludes to something like an afterlife, but never specifies it exactly."

Dental hygienist: "Doesn't that scare you? Not knowing where you'll go after you die?"

Me: "Not really. The way I see it, I am not going to be disappointed either way."

Dental hygienist: "...Won't be disappointed?"

Me: "Yeah. I mean, if I'm right, then so be it. I won't have lived my life expecting something that isn't going to happen. However, if I'm wrong, I'll be pleasantly surprised to find myself in paradise. For you, if you're right, then you can be relieved to get what you expect. But if YOU'RE wrong, your soul is going to be very disappointed to find out that it's all over and it no longer has anything to hope for..."

Dental hygienist: "...Oh....... well, everything seems okay here; the dentist will be right in... {leaves the room}."
