Debriefing at Lady Sally's [Gathering Post]

Kirk called everyone to order, and met everyone's eyes. Dayna, he couldn't help a smile seeing her again, even though it wasn't the Dayna he had known. Kara Thrace...hmmm, interesting. Burt, Spock, The Doctors, the android, very interesting ( Read more... )

As cool and as calm as anything Tiberius listened to the explanation. He leaned back stretching an arm across the back of the chair he was sitting in as he listened with interest.

"I wonder what happens afterwards. It seems this would be a little like first contact for them. Not the carnivorous monsters, but the Silurians." One race that he definitely had no experience with, and no protocols concerning Silurian tact.

Max was more concerned about the Silurians than she was about shooting or being Graboid food. So when the dark haired man asked the question she nodded. "Yeah. This has to be frightening for them. One minute your planet is there and the next it's transported somewhere else and a bunch of people invade it."

"I could probably at least download some cultural information," he pondered, swivelling to look at Max in his chair.

He doubted that whatever creatures were down there, they would be able to brave the Amazonian women that the station provided.

"You have information on them?" Max asked curiously. "Good, maybe if we can figure out what they're like and let them know we don't want to hurt them they'll be okay." She also wondered about the Graboids, if they could deal with them instead of killing.

"My brother would. Our ship should have a comprehensive database. I'm not all that worried about physical injury. I can be repaired. It's everyone else I'm more concerned with."

He assumed for some strange reason that most people knew that there were androids, or that he was an android. It wasn't anything that he frequently had to fret over, given the number of androids where he was from.

It took a moment for the realization to hit Max though she wasn’t exactly sure what he meant. She’d just thought that it was an odd phrasing that he could heal himself. “Huh? Repair like mechanical repair?”

"Yes, as in mechanical repairs. I'm an android." He offered her a cheeky grin, but a brief one. "I presume you're up for whatever is down there, then. Or else you wouldn't be here."

She looked fit. Reminded him a little of the genetically engineered people from his home, like the heavy-gravity worlders, or the ones with enhanced reflexes and immune systems. Not at all like one of the natural born.

Not fierce enough to be a Nietzchean, though.

“Cool.” As long as he wasn’t like some mechanical equivalent of a hover drone that tapped into the government, Max was okay with it.

“Figured I’d make sure that everyone was being treated fairly and there weren’t a bunch of hot heads going down to terrorize the locals.” Max had been satisfied with what the people were planning.

He was glad that she took it well. Not everyone had, recently. Odd mix of people that despised robots, robots, and people enamored of them.

"That's an excellent thing to be concerned about. From what I can tell there aren't a lot of people heading down that would be primarily concerned with mayhem. Even Miss Mellanby, from the background she's from, should mind herself. Or I'm hoping anyway."

Max still hadn't told people that she was a transgenic. "Where I'm from people like to go after things that are different from them. Even killed a friend of mind because he was different, just wanted to make sure there weren't people like that going down there."

She could deal with the guy that talked about the Graboids. It was more defense than going down there to kill.

"There's a bit of that where I'm from as well. However, my father wouldn't have ever abided such behavior from me." He gave her a sympathetic look, though. No one deserved to have that happen to them, or to lose a friend that way.

"Yeah, I think no matter where you're from, someone's gonna get crapped on." Usually it was someone that was different from whoever was in power. Max shifted in her seat, facing more toward Tiberius. "You been around long? Uh, not on the station but made?" She wasn't sure how androids worked.

He thought about it for a moment. "Eleven Tarn Vedran years. I'm relatively young as far as some androids go. I've all the necessary capacities but my system has yet to evolve to the point I can interpret pain. I'm an adult, anyway. All my fingers and toes and whatever else works just the way it ought." He wiggled his fingers at her to demonstrate.

Max knew about robotics and AI, though not to that degree. Manticore made sure their education was well rounded and since they were going to be the super soldier they would have to know about UAVs and other non-manned equipment.

“That’s cool. So you evolve like we do or do you get new programming?” She smiled slightly. “Sorry. I know what it’s like to answer questions about yourself. If you’re uncomfortable, just tell me to shut up.”

"Yes, like you do. Though that's my specific type of android. I don't start out as advanced as some can, but I progress limitlessly throughout my development, which supposedly could last thousands of years, though we're a relatively new breed. There's not a lot of reference to go off of. Dr. Soong seemed to know what he was doing when he created the design."

She looked normal. He knew not to judge books by their covers (he was a prime example of that) but she got a canid head tilt more characteristic of his android father than the brash human one. "Speaking of which, I don't see any reason you should be uncomfortable."

Max hadn't been expecting that name and her gaze sharpened on Tiberius. "Dr. Soong that's here on the station?" It was an unusual enough name that it could be him but also someone with the name. "I met a Dr. Soong when I first arrived if that's him."

At his comment, Max shrugged with a half truth. "I ran away when I was nine and sometimes people get curious about that."
