"Memory Zero. Negative. You have remembered more again."
She was trying not to. Really, really not to this time, but it all sounded so interesting! The Viyrans. Genius genetic manipulators who bio-engineered viruses as weapons and they think that she might have been accidentally infected?
No way.
But, Peri Brown being Peri Brown, she wanted to help out in any way possible, which apparently meant sitting in a dark room while these things with no bodies and voices that sounded a little like hers continuously tried to rid her mind of the memory of the virus.
Actually, a lot of this was going right over her head.
"Just...please, let me find the Doctor."
"Not until you have achieved the eradication of Memory Zero. Attempt number 340."
Okay. She knew the routine by now. Shut her eyes; relax; take deep breaths; let the memory of Grallista Social bob into the forefront of her mind's eye. Okay. Got it. She'd spoken to the Doctor on that little footbridge and then made plans to meet back at the TARDIS the following morning. And then she felt like she'd...swallowed something. Like...
...like a bug...?
"Hey," she said, eyes opening. "I think I remember how--"
And she wasn't in a dark room anymore. In fact, she was standing in the middle of some brightly lit corridor. And she just got jostled by a guy who brushed her against the shoulder.
"Hey!" she called after him. "I'm not invisible, y'know! You run into a girl, you should apologize!"
But she never got an apology; just a wide-eyed stare before the man hurried off.
"So where are you this time, Peri? Also, it's probably not a really good idea to talk to yourself."
Maybe she could locate the Doctor somewhere in this crowd. They were probably still on Grallista Social anyway, just a different part. How hard could it be to find a guy with a stick of celery on his lapel?
"Doctor?"
He sometimes had a sixth sense when it came to this sort of thing, arriving when he was called (sorta like a tall, blond pet), but Peri tried not to let her growing disappointment at his absence get the better of her. She was resourceful; she could take care of herself.
She hoped.
[ooc note: Peri is coming in at the middle of the Big Finish audio play: Mission of the Viyrans. Slowtime as I'm at work.]
