A strange and random collection of TV thoughts

Why yes, my pet TV shows DO consume my life. :D

I'm warning you now, except for The X-Files, this post contains huge SPOILERS for all aired episodes of the named shows!

The Good Wife, 3x09:
I though this episode was absolutely fantastic. It had all the good things -- Alicia telling Jackie off, a really interesting case (yes, I am a dork), great Cary/Kalinda/Dana whirlwinds of insanity, the hilarious military judge, and lovely Will angst.

The opening scene was just chilling, and the way the drone operator played the sweet, innocent victim was downright disturbing. I was glad to see her convicted. Judge Kahn cracks me up, as do Alicia and Will in military court. They're so completely out of their element. :P

What IS it with this show and cheese?! First the cheese food poisoning scandal, and now a cheese food pyramid controversy? I don't even know what to think about it. Eli must have some serious issues with cheese by now.

The bar scene with Dana and Kalinda was pure gold. It was very sneaky of the director to cut to the bedroom scene immediately after -- I thought we were going to see Kalinda and Dana in bed, which I'm sure was their intent. I definitely didn't see Dana/Cary coming, though that pairing could grow on me. If nothing else, it (hopefully) reduces the chances of Kalinda and Cary getting together, so that's always good.

Speaking of Dana, she appears to have beaten Kalinda at her own game, which is rather ominously impressive. I really wonder if there's some kind of backstory between her and Will (or anyone else in the firm), since she appears to be hell-bent on wrecking his career and even having him arrested.

Diane was...wow. A little scary, actually. Her smackdown of Wendy Scott-Carr was delightful, and I LOLed at her telling Eli to stop sulking and grow the eff up. The roof scene with Will and Diane was incredibly well done -- I sure would not want to get on the wrong side of this new Diane. I was expecting Will to talk to Alicia before the end of the episode, but since he didn't I wonder when that'll come up again.

I have no words for how much I adore Alicia getting rid of Jackie. SO MUCH LOVE. I see that even though Jackie somehow managed to turn the webcam on and record herself snooping around, she still didn't actually manage to get into any of Alicia's files. Now THAT takes some serious skill. ;)

Next week's episode looks intense -- Grace gets kidnapped. I'm not sure where they're going with this, but it should be interesting.

Lost Girl, 2x09:
Oh god, Kenzi in Dyson's body was HILARIOUS. Dyson in Kenzi's body was great too -- it was so strange to see her all subdued and serious! Hale with an English woman's voice was very amusing as well.

Crazy, homicidal, possessed Lauren/headhunter made my entire week. Zoie Palmer did an amazing job. Something in Lauren's eyes was seriously creepy. I was anxiously awaiting the repercussions of Lauren secretly wanting to kill the Ash, but nothing ever happened. Maybe they chalked it entirely up to the body switching? Trick said that your most repressed desires come to the surface when someone else is in your body, but maybe nobody told the Ash that.

Also, apparently the Ash is keeping some dude's head locked up in his lair. :-O Um, yeah, that's normal... I feel like I was supposed to recognize the face, but I totally did not. When he opened the chest I was expecting him to have the secret to bringing Nadia out of her coma. That's my new theory -- whatever Ash was in power when Nadia got sick put her in the coma to get Lauren to work for him (or her...can the Ash be a woman?), and is keeping the cure away so Lauren doesn't rescue Nadia and then leave. I don't really think I'm right, but it would make a terrific storyline...

The anti-Bo/Dyson shipper in me groaned at the super-secret feeling that Kenzi found when she was in Dyson. GOD, I hope it's not that he's pining for Bo. I swear I will hit something if they go down that path again.

Oh, and my favorite dialogue of the week:
Kenzi: How would I know if I had a dude inside me?
Hale: Has it been that long?
(Kenzi smacks him)

The Mentalist 4x08:
I had high hopes for this one, since it directly follows the revelation that Red John is still alive and Jane set up Panzer's murder, but while it was a very good episode I swear Bruno Heller is trying to make my head explode. They were JUST getting to something really good when Jane weaseled his way out of it. *kicks him*

Criminal Minds, 7x08:
Ick ick ick ick ick. I needed a shower after watching this one. But aside from the disgusting creepiness, I really did like learning more about Garcia's backstory and seeing an episode focused on her. She was amazing in the final confrontation with creepy-unsub. I cannot imagine what it cost her to fake empathizing with him.

The X-Files:
THANK YOU to everyone who recommended that I watch this (well, also curse you, because another TV show is seriously the last thing I need :p). I love love love it so far. I just finished 1x09, which is apparently widely regarded as the worst episode of all time, but apparently I have dreadful taste because I really liked it. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are totally adorable, and even though the epically 90s hair and clothes bring back slightly painful memories ;), it's a fantastic show. It has that elusive quality that just pulls me in, and I don't just mean because David Duchovny is rather nice to look at. (Though let's be honest, that does help. :D)
Heh. Apparently that really is how much TV I watch...
