Yesterday morning it was not raining. Yesterday afternoon it was. So it happened that in the morning, my coworker took the bus to work without incident. Her shift was over at 5, but she stayed at work off the clock until 5:45 when she could get a ride home, because if she took the bus she'd have to walk the five blocks from the bus stop to her house in the rain. Five blocks. Not even proper rain, really. A heavy sprinkle.
All I could think was, I can't wait to get back home where it's socially acceptable to mock Californians for this sort of behavior.
