The truth hurts...sometimes.

Red alert!  "Cue the music!  Cue the "Special Report" graphic!  Ready on camera 1!  Cue!"  With all the hype, one would think that the queen of England had died.  But, no.  Maybe the government figured out a way to give everyone health care!  Nope, not that either.  So is the latest breaking news?  What has FOX news drooling?

Obama.  What about Obama?  He told the truth....again.  What's the big deal about telling the truth?  Well, he didn't use the correct words, and probably combined a couple of things that shouldn't have been combined.  Obama's truth telling has sparked a huge media hoopla once again.

But I believe that most people in this country will be able to figure out what he really meant.  First of all, he probably should have said "turn to" faith instead of 'cling' to faith.  It just sounds better, and has a better feeling to it.  But honestly, in bad times, do we not turn to our faith more?  If a loved one is ill, do we not turn to our faith and pray for healing more than we pray all of the time for continued health?  If someone loses a job, and goes through painful times, do we not turn to prayer in that time of pain?  I believe he was telling the truth, he just didn't say it well.  Secondly, he probably should not have included religion and guns next to each other like that.  It was a poor way of saying it.

The surprise should actually be that he didn't say it well, since he is known for his great speaking ability.  Maybe the attention and anger from this mis-speak is really coming from his oponents anyway.  Maybe it isn't really a big deal.  Obama's dad left him after he was born, he was raised in a third world country, and didn't have much growing up. Youtube.com has some videos of people in Pennysvania saying that he was right, and this was refreshing to see, while it was on FOX news!  But I can only imagine what was going on behind the scenes on FOX news as this story began to break...before they asked people what they thought.  Sirens must have been blaring.

The problem with all of this is, however, that this is another time that Obama is getting in some sort of trouble for telling the truth.  His former pastor got Obama in trouble when HE told the truth.  We say that we want change, and complain about the dishonesty of our government, and when someone is finally willing to tell us things that are inconvenient but truthful, we can't take it.  I don't understand how this is such a big deal, while the last 7 years have been filled with presidential mis-speaks, outright lies, and bending of truths.

I am from the midwest, and I do turn to my religion when times are tough, and when I'm bitter and that's what makes my God a wonderful God, a comforting God.
