For Non- Boca People
Wilma suked. stayed home for whole storm. very scary. live in an apt so couldn't figure out how to board up without damaging the bldg, or whatever, so we didn't. woke up at 7:30 in the morning b/c the power went out and the wind was shaking the windows so bad and there were so many loud noises from trees falling on cars and whatever that we just "hunkered down" in the bathroom for about 6hrs. sucky. kitten was not happy, but she got over it. once it was finally over we went out and inspected everything. no damage to cars or apt. unlike andrew *hugs* although all of the trees I have ever seen in my entire life took up a horizontal residence all along my road and my parking lot and everywhere in between, which meant no going anywhere, unless it was on foot. luckily we were able to contact doug's parents and they pulled up at the end of our street (on military trail- busy road) and we hopped in like total refugees. 3 backpacks, a kitten carrier, and a box of food. spent the next week and a half at doug's house cuz his dad rocks0rs and bought a whole house generator. good food, good company, lots of scrabble. no cable. tear. way too many episodes of Regis & Kelly Live, as CBS was the only channel that came in with rabbit ears. Got power back on Nov. 1. no cable or internet and really rank smell, despite the emptying of the fridge and freezer a day or so after the storm. ate at doug's house for two more days. FPL came back on... Thursday, and took our power away for 4hrs during dinner time. : P but they gave it back, which was very nice of them and greatly appreciated. friday AM got power back at work. w00t. school starts back up tomorrow, got cable and internet back yesterday. life is normal. almost all the traffic lights are at least temporarily fixed. and im getting the hang of the four way stop at major intersections thing. yay, go me. smell is almost gone from fridge now- last place it lingered at. i <3 arm & hammer. had home cooked dinner in the apt tonight for the first time since the sunday before the storm. pork chops on skewers on the grill, roasted garlic potatoes, and a Caesar salad. my honey can cook ; ) yum yum yum. alright, doug says it's time for bed. he finally gets to go back to work tomorrow, after 2wks of no paid work. yay and tear for my honey. hope everybody else is feeling normal. oh, one last thing. I HATE HURRICANES!!!! THE ONES LAST YEAR CANCELLED MY 1ST HANSON CONCERT AND WILMA DID IT AGAIN THIS YEAR!!! keep in mind that i have been obsessed with hanson sicne they came out in 1997, and i have never been to a concert at all, and will continue to be able to say that until i can go to a hanson concert. i should just buy tickets to the orlando show next time, neither last year or this year was the orlando show cancelled. : P but Pompano is soo much closer. : P they are coming out with another new album next year and should tour again when it's released. but seriously, why couldn't they just reschedule?! or learn not to tour FL during hurricane season? this sucks. : P at least i have power back though and no damage. ::thinking that i should be very greatful for that:: ::trying really hard:: grr hiss. time for bed. see you all later. i have facebook. yay.
