Well it seems all the news in the gaming community lately has been about the new consoles so I thought I'd chime in with my two cents. The PS3 launch has come and gone and with it reports of robberies, paying off homeless people, selling them on Ebay for MASSIVE PROFIT (yes I admit I included). I mean are there any people who are actually going to

Funny that the PS3 does not use a unified system memory architecture like M$. The PS3 really has 256mb for video ram, and the rest for AI, Sound, Etc. Sites where showing how "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer, yeah remember that one?" had to have textures/lighting and objects removed over the 360 RR6 (Same game, just new tacks and modes). Last generation PS2 was king, but that might not happen this time over the costs. M$ is giving the Japanese dev units and letting them keep a huge percentage of revenue on game sales.
Divide and conquer work might work once more.I own more PS2 games because more of the games stand the test of time, and are just fun. In my eyes the system with the most RPG, SRPG, 2-D Fighters, 2D/3D action games will win. I think everyone sould really be looking at Nintendo in Japan. The Nintendo stock is well over $260 and sells more DS units then console in Japan. Why do more people have a DS? Well Nintendo is just really showing the love to all types of gamers now. Nintendo really just needs to do the same for the Wii . This is why Sony has been on top. I think M$ is trying but I really still own 80% Japanese games on the system. The rest are the few innovative American games that come out. You can't live off sports alone M$. I also think M$ depends too much on PC ports. I also must give it to M$ for Live. I hope online on every system becomes the new arcades, they really helped push console online into the light.
I think the age range from 17-30 are holding on to gaming this time around. Most of the last groups would just give up, and moved on to other hobbies. This generation is spending vast amounts on systems, TV's, and accessories. This group is also getting other family members involved. In the 16-bit days most people got the system for $199 max, and just used the same TV for decades. It's great that people who supported gaming have established a "gaming economy" where people can really go get almost any kind of game they could dream of playing on a crazy amount of PC/Consoles/Portable systems.
