In light of my newly chosen academic program and the fact that the semester is begging to end, this week was basically chaos. I have many things that need to be accomplished fairly soon and just a few things that had to be done this last week. My main goal was to get registered. I'm next to positive that no one wants to hear about precisely how many times I had to talk to each department involved in my life before I figured out what classes to take, so I'll skip the phone tag. One point that I must make, however, is that I am all of a sudden weirded out by how credits are done here: I'm taking 9 classes as of this point in time. Most of these are 1-credit courses. This number will likely change after my audition. I will need to find time for my private and studio lessons, which must fit somewhere in to the mess that I am progressively creating for myself next semester... These lessons are super important and so they may replace something else... Madness indeed.
Science 102: I didn't want to take this (the continuation of he class I'm currently in) but, I will be taking science 102 and its lab all for 4 credits. By the way, this translates to astronomy and chemistry...fortunately, I have quite a bit of faith in my instructors. They're basically amazing.
Gen Ed 110 World civilizations I for 3 credits
T and L 300 It's one afternoon a week for half of the semester...and I think I get to spend some time in a music classroom as part of this. 1 credit
T and L 301 Learning and...what? Development? ...2 credits
I have choir, voice and studio lessons worth 1 credit each.
So, all you math gurus out there? What does that amount to? 13. I'm not used to taking less than 15 credits...though I could get there I think. My point is that, if it fits, I will also be taking hd 202, which is middle childhood and adolescent development. This will likely be the age bracket of my students, I could and will read on my own to learn about development here, but if it works in my schedule, I would like to take it.
So, really, I've basically lost my mind. This is really going to be a transition semester for me; I'll start my music classes in the fall.
Other than scheduling, I'm just trying to finish up all of the projects in my classes. In a couple of cases, this is admittedly a bitter-sweet experience. I got a very pretty grade on my early childhood special ed test and was just so excited because I didn't think I had done well at all. I'm writing my developmental analysis to turn in by friday. My final speech will be given shortly after I return from Thanksgiving break on the subject of fetal alcohol syndrome/effects.
That was a lot of randomness about my life all just thrown together... Next time I post, it is likely that I'll be on thanksgiving vacation. Yea for that. I want coffee.
