Tempting the Gods

Tried to post on the 30th, couldn't seem to get on. Figures.

Had a wonderful weekend, got to go to the last day of church camp out, (the congregation had been on their yearly camping trip down along the South Fork of the Clearwater since Wed, but what with my money situation.....no going for Miss MacKenzie), as a little unexpected money showed up. It sure is different to praise and worship outside. We pulled into the camp area, and yours truly had to use the "facilities," did my thing, got back into the explorer, and said to DH, "Hey I think that is them right there." He replies, "Well, yeah, couldn't you hear them singing?" Obviously not, or I wouldn't have stuck my foot in my mouth, ya think? Sheesh, DH's anyway. So, we had a lovely time. I placed Maddie's husband and extended family on our prayer request, along with putting the same info on Stryper's MySpace site prayer request. Me thunks Brent and family are going to need all of the prayers they can get.

Went fishing after the picnic. No worries, the local wildlife still isn't in any danger. Not a cotton-pickin' nibble. Can't say it did a whole lot for the worm(s), though. (Drowned several of them.) Oh, well, it was the first time I've gotten down to the river since before the 4th, being sick, no money and all and probably the last day I'll get to spent with DH in a while, too. So, I had a nice time.

Wish I could say the same for today. Over slept my alarms, (yes, you read that right, I have two of them, and after this morning, obviously need both), couldn't find my route directions/list--had to go looking for those; realized I had forgotten to transfer my notes from last week to the new list, (vacation holds, and the like), so had to sit down and do that, but only did it for the first route, which I realized once I was already into the parking lot of the store where I pick up my papers, so had to go back home and get last weeks list, got started 16 minutes late. Sixteen minutes I could probably make up, so wasn't too concerned, and got started. Not even 26 houses into delivering, but I lost my balance, (a common occurrance for me, balance requires good hearing, and we've already discussed Miss MacKenzie's lack of that), stepped off a rock-like path I have to use to get to these people's back door, (since their front one is, at this moment, completely unaccessable due to major house construction), and into a hole, twisting my ankle and dislocated my knee. It was a good thing I was too lazy this morning to walk out to the vehicle to get my tennis shoes that I usually wear, and decided to put on my high-topped fishing boots instead, or, I'd have broken said twisted ankle.

So, I laid in the yard for a bit, finally worked up enough courage to crawl my way back to the explorer and gamely go about finishing the routes. Of course, it's my left leg, the one I use to enter and exit said vehicle, along with controling my driver's side door, (not letting it just swing open if I am parked on a hill, and what-not), so, I'm really hurting by this point. I'm hobbling along after delivering a paper to one of the three houses that have wheel chair ramps to it, tripped over a garden hose and fell. Scraped up both palms rather nicely. And, to top it off, broke a rubber band after catching it on my diamond, while trying to hobble and band papers, and snapped myself in the eye. I should have not tried to tempt the Gods, and just stayed in bed this morning, I swear.

So, both of my knees hurt, the one for dislocating it, and the other for favoring the first, my ankle hurts, both hands are sore and I have a lovely red mark on my left eye ball. It's just sucky to get old, you know that?
