Check out my new jewelry for the re-tooling of one of my next cosplays!
I still have to make new hairsticks, but I'm so happy having decent jewelry for this now. I couldn't find large, flat purple beads for six years, so I used to wear ones I'd made from sculpey and some random pink/silver/pearl/chain wrap for the smaller necklaces. Seeing these beautiful agate stones last week encouraged me to resurrect Lulu from the depths of my closet. I'll have her ready for Otakon!
I really wanted to do this right this time, and my OCD attention to detail wanted to be much more exact now that I can afford it. I couldn't find the exact type of red bead that shows up in the art (those smooth quill-like orange-red shells), but I made up for it by using something similar of the same sort of stuff that people of the islands would have access to, like pearls, coral and stone. The pearls are a bit large, but I like them.
Components:
Sixteen flat purple agate beads ($20) + Thirty-two gold separators (free, leftover from childhood)
Fourteen pieces of polished red coral ($5) + Twenty-six small black lava stones ($2.50)
Twenty ivory tear-drop pearls ($2)
Two painted pressed-metal pieces (free, found)
That's all for now. I'll leave ya'll with a nice sexy vid of my current music. (That is also hi-fucking-larious. Seriously Gaga. Seriously.)
