Heartbroken :(
I'm soooo sad right now! so sad. My mom just gave me this newspaper clipping:
"NEW DOLPHIN AT MALL DIES
Edmonton: A dolphin calf born at West Edmonton Mall this week died shortly after birth.
The calf was born Thursday to Mavis, one of the mall's two Atlantic Bottlenose performing dolphins. The mall, which now has two performing dolphins, opened in 1985 with four dolphins.
The dominant male died last May at age 20, while a female dolphin died in August, 2000, at age 19. Two other dolphin calves were stillborn at the mall in 1996. Mavis, 21, had a healthy pregnancy with no complications, a mall news release said.
The calf was being kept in the lagoon to give the two remaining dolphins a chance to grieve."
Ok, now why am i so heartbroken about this? Well Mavis is all the way from my childhood...i saw her perform when i was little, i fell in love with her and i still have stuffed animals and blow up toys of her. Every time i go to Edmonton, Alberta (canada) i go visit her, see her show. I absolutely adore Mavis, and to find out that she lost her calf is totally heartbraking to me. She must be so sad herself. like they said at the end, they kept the calf with her so she could grieve. Dolphins have more human characteristics than we think.

My heart goes out to the dolphin trainers and the dolphins right now.
I can't imagine what it will be like there if Mavis were to die...she's getting pretty old right now :(
