Dopey but I think necessary question about good advanced Chinese textbooks: are there good ones out there?
Right now I'm using
高级口语/Advanced Spoken Chinese by Chen Ru and Zhang Qiwang. Whenever I go to bookstores in this country there are literally dozens of different beginner's and intermediate level books, but this was the only advanced book I could find. By "advanced" they mean people who know ~2000 characters, and I think that's a fairly accurate description. This is a good book, it uses actual source material and most of the vocabulary is multi-character phrases instead of silly crap like the names of food or expired pseudo-slang. Are there any other textbooks that work on this level? Just wondering.
