For example, I quite enjoy going to the gay scene occasionally... a good night out at arq with good friends is great. My boy isn't really into that however and just comes along when I drag him =P This doesn't make him more or less "gay" then anybody else. To be gay isn't the scene and the scene isn't to be gay. They really have to be viewed as mutually exclusive. I mean, how many straight girls love the gay scene afterall?
You don't have to be gay to be into that scene... it just helps =P It's just a matter of not completely overwhelming your identity as a whole by one facet of that identity. It all depends on how you view/label yourself.
If you put being gay before who you are then it can be a problem, if being gay is part of what makes you who you are then I find it's a lot more balanced. There are so many factors that make us who we are. We shouldn't cling to one as our sole identity. Of course, many may dissagree that that is what is happening.
