I was setting the machine up online, but I actually stopped and called them to ask if there was any way I could get it without Vista. Fell into the lure of the hardware and its reasonable price. We'll see how it goes.
A few months ago I picked up a machine Fry's swore still had XP drivers, and was going to create a dual boot. No go - went back after two weeks of working every hack I could think of. Still on XP until I find a good machine for that role.
Also, fyi, the base core of this machine (I put a bunch of extras on it specifically for my work) runs about $1300, which is pretty amazing to me. It's a good time to buy a new machine with the new lower priced 8800.
Which version of Vista does it have? I have Vista ultimate on my new laptop and absolutely no problems with it so far. No trouble connecting to the internet either, wireless, I never even had to set anything up.
I honestly have no idea, but I can check when I get back home. As soon as I heard the word 'Vista' I put my hands over my ears and started chanting religious wards.
Hehe! I was told by a friend while deciding what I wanted in a new laptop that if I was going to get vista to get the Ultimate version. So, since XP wouldn't be supported for much longer, that's what I went with.

I bought an XPS machine from a co-worker right before I came back to NY, but I haven't really played with it on the high end yet. Mmm, new toys...
