I've got nothing of real import to post here. This is just something that I worked on a little last night. I think that it shows some improvement with my efforts at trying to capture the subtlety of line that occurs with people's various features. This was drawn entirely from imagination (duh!), which is why the proportions are all messed up. But, I think I am zeroing in on my personal style somewhat. I also think I am getting better at drawing figures, and that is a good thing since I need way more practice at it.

The other day, I came across a link to a rare animation book written by Ken Hultgren. The book is out of print, so it was super-awesome that someone posted it. I think you can still find it here: ArgleBargle. Anyway, I decided that I would try to do some practice based on the pages that were posted there.

This sketch is overworked and not very good. But that is not to say that I didn't learn stuff from it. For example, I think I did a good job using the eraser as a reverse drawing tool. Normally, I just fix mistakes with it, but this time I used it to blend some of the pencil and "draw" highlights.

This was one of my practice sketches. As you can see, it is drawn with a non-photo blue pencil, so I had to get my scanner into some interesting contortions in order for it to show up below. Therefore, the image quality is extremely poor. One of the many things that I need to work on that I notice from this sketch is proportion.

I've been packing up a lot today and getting some chores done. I need to move by the end of the month. I've discovered that I have about seven sketchbooks. I didn't think I had that many.
