So I spent a lot of time playing softball with my fellow lawschoolers yesterday. The 1L students are broken up into three sections, and my fellow Aycock collegers and I (if you looked through the entire list of former deans, I'm relatively certain you could not come up with one with a more suggestive name) were unfortunately defeated in the first round. I helped out with the other games and got myself a nice happy sunburn, as well as a wonderful sore feeling lasting through right now. If this is how my body responds at 23, I don't want to think about when I get older.
After the tournament, we were all treated to delicious eastern nc style bbq and I attended a meeting for the club set up for married/parent law students. Several married couples told their stories of getting through the time constraints of law school together, and all of them did so successfully, which gives me more hope than the you're-guaranteed-to-get-divorced guy from pre-orientation. I'm confident that Sara and I will be fine.
Speaking of my wife, I am sorry to say that she has had a bit of drama on her trip to Michigan. Last night, as she was driving home with her father and Erin from her brother's going away party, a deer sprinted out of the woods, straight into the path of the minivan Sara was driving. To make matters worse, the deer spun off of Sara's car and went directly into the 2 passenger motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction, causing a nasty spill for them. Everyone in Sara's car was ok, and as far as she knew, the 2 people on the motorcycle were not seriously injured either. So, the only major damage was to the deer and Sara's grandma's minivan, thankfully. I'm sure she will be able to fill everyone in better when she returns and is able to update. But for now, I'm just glad she was ok.
So, now I am off to begin reading the first couple dozen pages of the 2500 or so pages that they tell me I am meant to read this semester. We'll see how long I can remained focused...
