Well today has been... an adventure. I decided to go to the 99x concert in hopes to meet ryan (whom I haven't seen in awhile) there. I decide to take the marta train to five points from the north springs station. I've never done this whole marta thing before so I'm playing it all by ear. Nothing happened on the train that's worth noting except for maybe a few hot girls... uh... anyway. I get off at little five points and manage to find the concert with minimal effort on my part. I call ryan and I get no answer. It then begins to rain. Then it begins to pour. So about 20 minutes or so later I try to call ryan again and the phone got answered but all i could hear was the concert over the phone. So I go stand under something so I can smoke a cigarette (mmm... cloves...). While i'm standing there this guy walks up to me and starts making small talk so I talk with him, he tells me he's from detroit and i'm the first person he'd talked to in atlanta; then he tells me it's his birthday and was complaining that the rain had "fucked up this party". He asked me where my beer was and I told him I was only 20 and couldn't buy a beer, he tells me that he will get me one if I give him the money. So I give him the $5 and thinking i'd be nice gave him an extra $2 for providing a minor with alcohol and told him it was for his birthday. He walks into the bar... never to be seen again. *shrug* whatever. After being conned out of $7 I felt pretty dumb so I decided that I needed a beer. I walk up to the lady and say "got any cold bud lite?" and she says "let me find ya one" and she digs through her cooler and pulls me a cold one from the bottom, pours it into a cup, i pay her and walk away. Best $12 beer ever. Hooray for purchasing alcohol! I chugged it in under a minute. So i'm at this concert alone, wet, ryan no longer answers her phone, $12 poorer, and a slightly higher blood alcohol content. and i'm content with that. I walked around listening to the music while people-watching.
I learned some things today.
- how to navigate via marta.
- Don't trust black people from detroit on their birthday.
- when going to a concert such as this, bring a back-pack.
- many other lessons that are kinda hard to put in words.
I'd like to have seen ryan, even if just a "hi - bye." but whatever I still had a good night. Knowing how marta works now I plan to do dxm (read: skittles) and ride around on the train and walk around down town atlanta/underground. Could be fun.
