Cheers to Marvel for a successful year of adaptations (can they keep the streak going? We'll see.). And now, on to the topic at hand...
I could elaborate on many details, but to make it easy, I'll list the pros and cons in bullet form along with a "score and final verdict."
+Combining characters, origins, and some storyarcs from 616/Marvel Knights/MAX series.
+Massive gore, headshots, violence, and guns, guns, guns. Man, there are a lot of ways you could kill someone.
+To add to that, Lexi sure did fine on the action scenes.
+Wayne Knight did very well as Microchip.
+Dash Mihok was entertaining as Detective Soap.
+Looney Bin Jim could be a cool character to include in the MAX comics. Too bad Ennis isn't writing it anymore.
+I like both Ray Stevenson and Thomas Jane equally as Punisher.
-Some Punisher fans may discredit the scenes where Frank "humanizes," himself, but I didn't mind it at all. After all, it is a response to an ideal in the comics that has always been constant to the Punisher(outside of some titles), now broken in the movie.
-There was a scene with Jigsaw recruiting, and it just ended up campy. Then again, to come to think of it, he was kind of corny in the storyarc Circle of Blood.
-Damn my night shift, because this makes for a good
failnobra outing.
Overall: 8.5/10
If you're either a fan of the comics or miss those balls-to-the-wall action movies from the 80s, you'll love this "Death Wish on 'roids" (which, I guess, the Punisher always has been).
