Since when did being religious become a negative quality?

So I wasted 5 minutes or so watching the review, and the guy more-or-less slams on Eli because he's a religiously-driven character.

Now i'm not the most religious person in the world, nor the most "upstanding" when it comes down to being moral - espeically for being a Catholic.

But reading the comments... http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.168085-Escape-to-the-Movies-Book-of-Eli

And listening/reading everyone bash the movie because it's a subtle [or lack there of] nod towards religion... when the Hell did that make someone a pariah?

I know we [America/The West] is suppose to be about freedom of choice, freedom of belief, and equal acceptance of it all, but when did actually believing in a religion make you a pariah?

seriously?, religion, movies
