[That's because the Church changes its branch of worship randomly once every week or so............... If it was up to her this would stay Catholic okay.

Anyway, now that the entire mecha milkman fiasco has been past, Ciel has quickly resumed her self-appointed duty of overseeing the Church, though agreeing to meet up with Avenger later does account for a small part of the reason why she's present, despite recent shocking revelations that greatly destabilized a good portion of the town. Regardless, she's up in the front at the altar as always, when the irregular Servant finally managed to find his way to the Church.

She looks up and greets him with a small nod.]

Good evening. [She's spoken to him only on the phones so far, but the tome was familiar enough. That, and they did agree on this in advance.] ...You would be Avenger, is that right?

[After shutting the door behind him, he slowly made his way to the front of the church. He had to admit this place was rather impressive. It at least seemed a little more like a church than what he could say for Fuyuki's. ...It was probably safe to assume this church did not have children locked down in the basement to fuel servants. At least he hoped not.

And he would return her greeting with a slightly awkward two-fingered salute.]

That's me, alright. And that means you must be Ciel. Pretty nice place you got here.

[Okay, so he wasn't expecting her to look like this. Her voice sounded a little more mature than what she actually looked. ...Which was pretty much the same for Caren. At least she dressed like one would expect a woman of God to. What the hell was Caren thinking with that outfit of hers?]

Sorry about the hold up. I had a couple of errands I had run before making it here.

[She'd take the Fuyuki one thanks. Simple and catholic is good enough... This week is Orthodox week. Not like Ciel cares but ugh shutting up the head drone priest was always a hassle.

NO ORPHANS HERE. (UNSURE) just... maybe a drone or something............ THEY NEED TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE OKAY...

Getting his confirmation though, her demeanor instantly melts away into a soft and pleasant smile. You'd think it a rarity, given Church members' track record in FSN...]

Yes. The circumstances can no doubt be better, but it's nice to make your acquaintance, Avenger. ...Aha, I simply oversee the Church whenever that I can. That people from different worlds can be brought here means that they can all worship different religions, but regardless, it should be better for anyone to talk to an actual person, rather than the drone priest who preaches like a broken record.

[She's supposed to be physically 17 yep... but we can get over that. As for Caren? WHATEVER THAT WORKS FOR HER. You haven't seen Ciel in battle dress that ( ... )

I imagine. I may not be very religious myself, for... uh... obvious reasons. But I can see the benefit of having someone that actually knows their stuff over some brainwashed sock puppet.

[Huh. He wasn't expecting that at all. She really was different from the two members he sorta knew. This would slightly change his own attitude towards her, not that he... completely trusted her yet. But progress is progress, right?]

For the most part, yeah. Just a little hard to explore with all the chaos going on out there. Luckily I managed to scope out things before too much happened. ...Figures things would go to shit the moment I got called in. I seem to have that effect. It's really a shame, too. I like this place. It's a lot better than... where I came from.

[Now, what could he ever mean? Fuyuki was a lovely city. Who wouldn't love living there? Or... was he referring to something else? Either way, Ciel should feel free to ask any questions she may have.]

[A faint chuckle.] I understand. I won't tolerate you badmouthing God on Holy Grounds even in a place, though, so you should at least watch what you say a little! [She's mock-lecturing at this point, but she still means it! ...Really.

Spoiler: They're all trolls Good enough!]

...I don't think so. Big events do happen sometimes, so please don't blame yourself. [...Well YOU DON'T HAVE TO KILL EACH OTHER IN A BATTLE ROYALE, for one? idk but at least in Mayfield you don't permanently die...

...but that's not a good thing either..........

ANYWAY she'll pull out a paper pamphlet and hand it to him.] Have you come across one of these so far, Avenger?

zeronotone March 29 2011, 20:14:05 UTC
Ha, no need to worry. I won't speak any further on the matter. I know how people feel about these things, as I once did.

[you kind of stop giving a fuck about god or high powers when you go through that kind of hell. orz

He'd take a moment to carefully read over the pamphlet she handed him. He thought it would be one of those, so he was pretty damn surprised regarding it's actual contents.

At first he was somewhat amused, but the more he read, the grimmer his face began to look.]

...I'm really not too sure how I should feel about this. It's horrible but... there's really nothing anyone can do, right? It seems hopeless.

Thank you for your understanding.

[You just don't know that she's Catholic by convenience. :V

...Okay serious nod.]

...It's a bit outdated now, taking in account of the recent events in which both the Postman and the Milkman have... supposedly perished. That's quite a lot of information to take in, so please don't rush yourself to process all of it now. I will, however, not deny that this place is twisted beyond help. You may feel better and more capable once you regain your Servant status, but even abilities set aside, this town is a prison. We make the best out of what we can on most days, but when the town starts something, everything would then be submerged into chaos. [re: recent events.

She pauses, giving him to comment or ask questions, if he's got any.]

[He kept reading it over and over, trying to let it all sink in.

It was... really perplexing. The treatment of people was cruel, but perhaps... whoever was behind this place had their own reasons that made sense for it. At the same time, some people in this world may not want to leave, despite how terrible it might be. It was better than death, and Avenger had to agree with that. He wasn't a Heroic Spirit. If he was returned to his time, he would merely cease to exist.

He let out a sigh.]

Even with my servant status, I wouldn't be much help. Like I told you over the phone, I'm... really not much of a servant in the first place. I'm about as powerful now as I would be with it. I wouldn't be much of a help beyond being a decoy to lure attention away.

...And after all that's happened, fighting really isn't the first thing on my mind. Mn, I just don't know. What should I do?

[...She's acquainted with Archer and knew how it went with people with no pride, but this is beyond even that. If he admits it like that...]

Your Master should still be able to heal you if you're injured, no? A durable decoy would still be stronger than an average human. Your circumstances are sounding stranger and stranger, but if you would rather not talk about it, I won't press you for details.

[She nods.] Trying to live, simply put. ... This place brings in spirits, demons, humans, gods, and even those who've already died. It's wrong, but it's living. Doing what we can to cope with the passing days is usually all that we can do, too, so... please don't think too hard about it. It's unusual for some of us to be given a family and expected to live normally, but until more comes to light, playing along may be the best option.

...You've got a point there. I guess I'm not completely useless. A littler stronger than your average human, huh? That's probably only true because humans have become so lazy. I can't blame them, really. All I've wanted to do since I've come back to 'life' if laze around. That's why I'm kind of iffy on the whole fighting issue in the first place. But at the same time, I... can't allow people to be treated the way that letter of yours describes.

Mmn. If I do get my servant status back, I'll have to pair myself with someone that can make up for my lack of physical strength. Too bad boss lady isn't around. [oh boy will he ever be surprised.]

Haha, but it's living, isn't it? Skipping school here isn't unheard of because it's the same material that doesn't necessarily help anyone, but make sure to still come to class once in a while. If you're absent for too long, you'll get temporarily droned, so please watch out. With some luck, you also won't have to fight at all. There are other Servants in this town, but Mayfield itself is far greater an enemy to go against than between ourselves. As you've witnessed in the past few days, it's usually when the town does something that we have to take up arms, but otherwise, things are usually surprisingly calm.

Oh? Wouldn't existing be a bigger issue? Without a Master to provide you with Prana, you'll disappear every day, and that must be an annoying way to die every time. Well... you should still have some time left to meet someone with magical potential whom you won't mind working together with, before Mayfield gives us something back again. Have you met anyone like that here yet, Avenger?

School really isn't too bad, even if I don't understand a damn thing those drones are going on about. It's like listening to one of-- ...er, sorry. Said I wouldn't mention that stuff here. A-anyway, I'm sure I'll be fine. I know I keep saying I don't want to fight but, something tells me that might change as soon as I get my status back.

...A-and, well... ...That would actually be a problem in this world, wouldn't it? My source of prana before was the grai- [Oh shit. No. Take it back. Yeah, he really shouldn't have let that slip out. Normally he wouldn't even reveal a single damned thing about himself, but he was so... loose tonight. Was it the effect of being in the church?]

...I've actually met a couple of magi already, but I'm pretty sure they already have servants. Well, they did in Fuyuki, at least.

[A small chuckle.] I do teach linguistics in the High School, but I may be able to tutor for other subjects, depending on your interest level. As for that... Not against the other Servants, at least not usually. Some of them don't get along, but their Masters should be sensible enough to hold them back from fighting recklessly between themselves.

[A lightly raised eyebrow.] It's true that the Grail should at least be present for any of you to even exist here. The magus serves as a link, but by him or herself, it should be extremely difficult to keep a Servant without help in the real world. Most of them don't have that big a prana supply, but this world bypasses that rule. I've met a few who became Masters here before: there really is no added strain to maintaining a Servant. ...Or are you talking about something else? [The clear blue eyes lock into his; she's not asking for more explanation, but just a confirmation. WOULD YOU BE A BAD PERSON AND LIE ABOUT THIS, AVENGER?]There is two conditions for a pair to be formed here: the ( ... )

You're a teacher and a priestess? How can you handle being so busy? I'd probably drop dead from exhaustion. ...Not that it really matters in this kind of place, I guess. Still, gotta admire hard work.

[Aaaah, not the eyes! NOTTHEEYES! She may not have been asking for more explanation, but... It was coming out anyway. One would question just why he was being this open with her. Perhaps it was merely her connection with Caren, or... he just felt the need to get this 'secret' off his chest.]

...Yes, I am. The means in which I was summoned in to the "Fifth" war, and how I remained in it through every repetition are completely different from any other servant. My supply of Prana was... from the Holy Grail itself.

[He would leave it at that, for now. If she wished to inquire any further, she had unspoken permission.]

And I have to thank you for that information. Here I thought I'd be stuck without a master again.

[Just smiling.] Ah, I'd prefer being busy to being idle. I'm much more fit than an average person, so there's that too.

[Well she knows Caren. Merem keeps picking on her and setting her body off and Ciel had to step in once THIS IS FUNNY HEADCANON OKAY And totally trustworthy... yep.]

...So your connection to the Grail is different from that of an average Heroic Spirit, even discounting the Counter Force that it is capable of calling forth. I've heard that the Grail has become tainted, however, so if you are directly linked to it... [A small frown as she crosses her arms, but she's not drawing any hasty conclusions yet.]

May I ask what connection you have with that corruption? [>Implying that he can turn the inquiry down. As interesting as this is, it's still admittedly not very much her business.]

You're welcome. Hm... I wonder if it's possible for a person to take on multiple Servants. [--A small shake of her head.] Well, that's just idle speculation. Regardless, I've learned quite a bit during my stay here, so if you have ( ... )

[By this point, it was probably easy for her to come to her own conclusions regarding his... connection. Only one name would really need to be said to seal the deal. And with a sigh, he'd finally let it escape.]

...Angra Mainyu. A spirit formed out of nothing but pure hatred and destruction. Well, it's not as if I'm the real deal, but the grail thought I was good enough, apparently. Rather, those who sealed me inside.
