So I'm in love with this town called Wrightwood like an hour and a half north of here. It's a mile high and all pine trees, a town of only 3000 people. I'm obsessed with looking at real estate there and want to buy a house although that'd mean staying in California which in general is not my first choice. I fell in love after driving through it for 5 minutes in the dark a couple weeks ago and we went back last weekend and it was still delightful. Last weekend there was 5 inches of snow there and we played in the snow for quite some time. Then 45 minutes later we went from 7500 feet to sea level, from 24 degrees to 50, from pine trees to desert. It was crazy. When you were standing in 5 inches of snow you could see the desert in the distance -- yellow and sunny. It's quite bizarre.
I wrote a letter to my doctor about how unhappy I was with my one appointment with him. I won't go into details, it's not very interesting, but needless to say, I was not happy. Well, he called me today and said he'd see me free of charge to go over my very expensive CT Scan I got that I don't think I needed. Although I'm non-confrontational, I'm going to go see him. It's good to try to deal with people face to face. I'm such a grown up! (I say that now, I'll fall apart in the Doctor's office like I always do).r!!! Hrithik Roshan fights an elephant. I love it.
I can't believe it's only a week until I go to South Carolina for Christmas. An insane amount of things needs to be done. Evidently a level above an insane amount of things needs to be done at Matt's work because he's been working literally 24/7 with little sleep or anything. He hasn't even bought Christmas presents yet. Hopefully it'll all work out. I'll just keep telling myself that.
I won that Tori Amos music video contest by the way (see last entry). We're going to see her concert on Sunday. Should be good times! It hasn't been officially announced yet that I won, I look forward to all the hate comments and stuff (by look forward I mean 'don't look forward'). I stumbled upon a message board topic about the winner of the Modest Mouse contest where there was post upon post about how much they hated him and how his video sucked and they put up his phone number (don't know how they got it) so they could call him and tell him how much it sucked. This was orchestrated by the guy who came in second. Ha. Anyway, youtube people. Awesome.
Because of the win, and the traffic it'll inevitably bring when it's announced, I posted two crappy film school movies that are similar to it on
my youtube page. They are music video-y and silly overdramatically girly (by silly I mean hyper serious). You know - the kind of thing I do. They both star Anne-Elisa for those of you who know her and one stars Julianne singing the song for those of you who know her. They all star white sheets, including my Tori Amos video. I don't know what that's about.
"Kore", you may notice, is completely ripped off from the Utena movie. Except that Kore was nicknamed in film school the "sex is bad" movie and I don't think sex is ever bad in the Utena world. My other video was dubbed simply 'dramatic' by my teacher. They're both kind of angry and taken together you'd think I hate men due to a string of bad relationships or something. Thank goodness the Tori video is a slightly happier version of the same thing I do over and over again (but men are still bad in it...).
It was funny looking at my film school movies. I was actually surprised by how bad they were. I honestly expected them to be ok and didn't really think they were. But it's nice to know that I think I'm a lot more talented now than I was then. I didn't realize how much working with the people I've edited for has improved my skill (you'll never know my editing skill since the Tori video was put together so quickly it's merely assembled and the point I'm making here is that the other two projects are not as well edited as something I could do now).
Anyway, I guess that's enough talk about that. If I have time I'll try to blog about the concert. And my busy week which includes seeing my old roommate Deidre's play and Matt's work's Christmas party. And I guess Christmas shopping and packing but whatever.
If I don't get around to it before then though, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year =)
The thing I'm looking forward to most in 2008?
Jodhaa Akbar!!!! Hrithik Roshan fights an elephant! I love it.
