Strange week. Thanksgiving was good though. It was Matt & I's first Thanksgiving alone and together. I was happy with just turkey and cranberry sauce but Matt produced a list of demands. So we made turkey, stuffing, sweet potato, carrots, green beans, cranberry sauce and biscuits (and pie!). We ended up eating kind of late, because we just got a late start. But all in all it was a success. I was very impressed with our cooking ability. And we made a huge amount of food because I figured if we were actually bothering to cook then we may as well make a lot and eat it all week.
Originally we were going to try to go camping today (and just throw the leftovers on the fire to warm them up and eat), but it turns out it's getting pretty cold at night where we wanted to go and I feel generally crappy so alas, it's canceled. We may still go to some forest to picnic with our leftovers. But I just woke up so I don't know. Also, we're going to try to catch up on some movies this weekend, we haven't seen any in two weeks.
Why haven't we? And why do I feel kind of crappy? I'll tell you. Well, two weeks ago was our friend Alex's wedding which was really fun. He put us at a table with his suitably nerdy high school friends and it was a fairly satisfying experience. The ceremony included both the officiator's opening words working in the Articles of Confederation (as per Alex's request) and they signed a 'Declaration of Dependence' which was just the Declaration of Independence reworded into a marriage contract. Also, the groom walked up the aisle to 'Axel F' from Beverly Hills Cop and they walked back down, married, to 'Power of Love' from Back to the Future. Their first dance was to 'Earth Angel' from....Back to the Future. It was something else.
I also bought what I consider to be my first real pair of shoes. Like fancy, expensive shoes. They're wacky looking and not something I would pick out for myself at first, but I dunno, I like them. I'm trying to find some other event to wear them for but I can't imagine there'll be anything anytime soon.
Last weekend I decided to try to shoot a music video for a competition. There are a lot of these competitions lately and a lot of people I know have been doing them. Modest Mouse and Smashing Pumpkins had music video competitions and Heinz and some other people had commercial competitions. Well, this was for Tori Amos. They give you green screen footage of her playing and then you can do whatever you want. Clearly I was taken over by a fit of insanity to try to do something in an inhumane amount of time. Saturday (starting at 6am) we shot clouds and then bought and put stuff together for the shoot until late at night. Sunday we shot all day. Monday I edited and did the green screen. And Tuesday I rotoscoped. Rotoscoping is a ridiculously hellish experience where you go frame by frame to erase things, in this case the little white x's on the green screen that they put there for matching tracking and things.
Anyway, I had to mail it in on Wednesday morning so it'd arrive by the deadline. I'm not super thrilled with it. Well, it's ok really, but it could have been a lot better with an appropriate amount of time. And the last three edits are ghastly, I don't know what happened there. But nonetheless, here it is:

Anyway, doing all that made me very tired. Which is why it's 11:00 and I haven't gotten close to starting a day yet. But it was really fun to shoot the video, reminded me of film school. And Thanksgiving was really fun too even though we didn't get to make pilgrim hats out of construction paper like I wanted to (maybe we still can, it's not too late right?). And I'm sure if we get out to movies and picnicking that the next couple of days won't be bad either. Look at all my positive. I'm full of it all of a sudden. Appreciate it while you can, I promise next livejournal entry will be full of sad self loathing.
Oh, p.s.,
this website is awesome! It shows you the last 50 pictures posted to LiveJournal. It's so random and bizarre. You get an occasional naked person but it's worth it to look at everything else. From the pictures alone, it'd seem that Russians own LJ. Like 50% of all pics are Russian. Anyway, I'm obsessed with this thing. It's just fascinating.
