As mentioned below, I been taking buses instead of the underground for a few days now, and will continue to do so until this time next month when my bus pas expires. It's a trial run to see if (1) I can handle budgeting my time around doubled commute hours and probably quadrupled amounts of walking, and (B) it saves money in the long run.
(1) is leaving me pretty physically and mentally worn-out, as any journey falling within the rush hours means a stressful and bumpy ride in human sardine cans that lasts twice as long as it does below ground. (B) is a bit uncertain 'cause there are times when I really do just need to get up and go, either homeward or schoolward, and for those times I'll pay out-of-pocket for underground fares.
But I walked a crap-ton in Japants, 'cause I lived at least 12 minutes away from everything except rice fields and froglets and wee-tiny crabbies. My legs'll adjust. Even crowded buses I can acclimate to, given some time and lots and lots of calming mental exercises. "At least it's not Delhi," for example, which actually works for pretty much any city-anxieties that crop up. I do need to stop listing to my right side all the time, tho...like I'm doing right now sitting down. Bad posture, Del. That's my shoulder-bag side and my leftmost lower back muscles are not at all pleased right now. Time for yoga.
