Did have a better second day of kitchen-wenching, AND a free staff meal. Those happen every day between the afternoon and evening shifts. So that's nearly half my grocery bills gone (altho if I'm real honest I'll admit I will spend most of the savings on baking supplies and craftybits)
Today was day #3, in which I only worked a couple of hours due to scheduling mayhem and too many people in the kitchen, but I learned to make another of the shop's signature dishes, and Bosslady let me take the remains of one of my practice-runs with me c: And Nana O loaned me a work shirt for the couple weeks before I take my recipes test and earn the shop tee; I hadn't known I'd be working today until this morning, and all I had on me was a tank top, so the boycreature loaned me a button-up shirt...which was white. Not the best color for kitchens.
The best part of today was bringing the practice-dish leftovers back to the boycreature, who'd been under the impression, as had I up until Nana O said "Yeah, so...we've got too many people. Go home.", that I was working late into the night; getting lots of cuddles; recounting the radness of my supervisors and rejoicing that contrary to the last jobthing, they're actually working WITH me on the visa work hours limit rather than mobbing against me; moar cuddles; musing that my life is overall pretty nice right now.
Then taking a bus route home which brought me strolling past Big Ben and rolling on by the length of Hyde Park. Yeah, I've come most of the way around the world to be a kitchen-wench who has to trade in a tube pass for a bus pass in a desperate attempt to scrape together more rent money. But I've still come most of the way 'round the world, and that bus pass still takes me through the heart of Londinium, in which sits the little friendly shop where I get to eat and practice my third language, and the flat of the luvly, witty, sweet boycreature who's going to help me learn a fourth c:
