i just found out that we have an official date for our first bout.

Us Gem City Rollergirls will finally be the real deal around here.
Practice has been getting harder and pushing me in different ways. I really need to get more confidence about my hitting/blocking abilities. yes, you heard me say it.....i'm a chickenshit about taking a hit. I think I just haven't gotten into my "zone" like i could in high school. I broke a girls nose once because she was taunting me at the net. I broke another girls fingers when I stuffed the ball against her hand really fucking hard. I was a monster at volleyball in high school, but this rollerderby?? It's been hard to get there again. The 7 years of motherhood I've had, nuturing my kids and trying to be peaceful and nonviolent with them has definitly made me somewhat of a pussy.
But i know there's still a panther inside me. She comes out from time to time, for short periods......I just need to bring her out at will, with some level of control. ha ha ha.....
We will be breaking into teams here soon and really pushing hard on taking hits and learning to fall safely. We also need to get more endurance work in and I can't wait until warm weather so I can skate outside everyday at the hockey rink.
It kinda makes me puke a little when I think about how close this is (there's only 40 practices left), but also gives me a severe thrill.
