#365positivity: 9/13: The Fountain Pen

Sep 14, 2014 21:26

I have not waxed lyrical about my love of fountain pens here before. My new ink cartridges arrived yesterday and reminded me anew how much I enjoy writing with these pens.

My favorite is a Month Blanc with a slim, long, black-n-gold barrel and a fine-point gold nib. I have had to repair the nib once because it fell and got roughed up. The nib is now smooth again. It does not completely glide effortlessly as before or has as fine a line, but it is still very good.

My other favorite pens are from my high school years!! I have both of them, one with a maroon barrel and the other with a green barrel. Both have a gold cap and small steel nibs-only about half an inch of the nibs are exposed, thereby reducing chances of ink leakage.

The black pen takes cartridges and bottled ink, whereas the other two pens take only bottled inks. I currently have Mont Blanc cartridges in toffee brown and J. Herbin cartridges in terre de feu brown. The bottled ink I have is a delightful tender purple by Waterman.

I love the experience of holding those pens and handwriting in them across paper, especially if that paper is by Clairefontaine.
