This morning it occurred to me. There's a huge cloud of volcanic ash hanging over northern Europe blocking air traffic. At least the Frankfurt airport is closed until further notice. I've been talking to my sister, who has a lot of friends stranded all over Europe due to the Icelandic eruption. Damn you, Eyjafjallajökull. Martin, our Swedish friend is stuck in Gothenburgh, and our French friend Jérémy, who had planned to come to Finland, possibly can't come. Her friend Simon also is somewhere. And I've been sympathetic, but really, this far away, none of that has anything to do with me, right? Well, this morning I realized that there actually is one person afflicted who I might actually be able to meet if it wasn't for the ash cloud. Koushi. Funny how I've apparently managed to convince myself of him actually dying and never coming back.
Except of course the fact that a silly little volcanic eruption spitting ash over Europe probably has nothing to do with the training taking forever.
Anyway, whatever. I hardly even remember his face anymore, so who cares. Yesterday I got the tsukesage I wanted. It's blue, with a pattern of stylized cranes in flight. I wonder if it'll suit me at all. I'm also in the process of acquiring yukata to wear in the summer. I had bought a shitload of hanhaba obi, which are suitable for yukata, but the family took them with them. Now I have only one that's pink... Though it looks like it'd be entirely appropriate.
Today it rained until noon, and now it's sunny. Which is nice.
ETA: Really looks like nothing's moving.
