The person auctioning the watch I bid for refused to sell it for less than 60 euro, so I'm not buying it after all. This creates an interesting situation. Namely, I see myself already having spent the 38 euro, so I need to actually spend it too and get something in return for it, so as to not feel utterly cheated.
I thought I could get another watch for 31 euro, but some asshole raised it to 37. I'm going to go get it today. Now I'll need chains. There're some really nice chains with starting bids at 1 euro (no way I'll get them for 2 though).
Yesterday I picked up a pair of silver cufflinks with moonstone I bid on. They're really nice, but with a bid on another pair and the watch, my ruin is again closer. Today I'll hopefully also get myself a shirt that's on discount.
Incidentally, because I shop at antique stores and flea-markets, I've often wondered how many of the previous owners of my stuff have died. The cufflinks I got had belonged to the father-in-law of the lady I bought them from, who'd died 2 years ago. The watch apparently comes from the collection of a watch aficionado, dead for 10 years. That's two confirmed dead people.
I'm thinking of writing a small paper and giving a small presentation on how young Japanese women unwittingly reproduce and encourage the moe-fueled distortion of the female-image otaku-men have.
