Dire straits

I am very poor. I owe:
22 euro to a firm that makes suspenders and sleeve garters.
35 euro to a collecting agency that's on my heels.
79 euro to the tailcoat service for the beautiful beautiful waistcoat I ordered before I found out that I'm penniless. I'd forgotten about that.
I'm bidding on a pocketwatch, and the auction closes tomorrow, so it may soon be that I'll also owe 38 euro to some dude. My only consolation is that a new watch of that size would probably be closer to a hundred.

I have two tie clips and a pair of cufflinks at this antique store that haunt my dreams and thoughts. Together they're worth 70 euro (25 a piece for the tie clips and 20 for the cufflinks). I seriously can't afford them, but they still haunt me.

For some reason my student support hasn't come in. I haven't gotten any notice about losing it though, so either I've never gotten it in September, or things are very dire indeed. I'm fast on my way to financial ruin. I guess these are my dues for that "gotta cough up if you want to look good" -crack way back whenever.

In another news, I'm still more or less depressed and lacking inspiration. The sad truth that I've been hiding is that these past 2 years I haven't gotten shit done. I have more overdue work (some around 2 years overdue) than you can shake a stick at. But on the other hand, just by writing about 6 or 7 papers and going to 2 exams I could score myself more credits than I've ever gotten in a whole semester. Although, if I hadn't been completely dry these 2 years, I'd have those credits now... And just when exactly am I going to pen these papers?

I'm going to submit a paper to a conference that's in March. If I get in, it's going to be a nice feather in my cap to type into scholarship applications. Maybe then I'll even get a scholarship. Those are a lot of money.

I just realized that they'll be paying me real money for the tutoring, and the sum almost covers the price of my waistcoat. Yay! Maybe I won't be financially ruined after all!

acquisitions, uni
