Zero was equally unimpressed, despite his comparative lack of idealism. He probably didn't have room to talk, having been brought back from death himself, but he was getting really tired of Mavericks not dying properly. More than anything, he was worried about X. This was supposed to be a vacation for him. He didn't mind if he had to deal with a few problems himself, but X of all people could use a break from the endless conflict.

Of course, things never worked out quite like that. Zero had drawn his saber already; he hadn't activated the blade yet, but he was poised to power it up at the slightest provocation. Vile was not going to catch them off guard. "He might. He doesn't stand a chance against both of us without it. He's egotistical enough to think otherwise, but that doesn't guarantee anything. He just got his new armor and he won't have adjusted to it yet. That's his weak point."

"Don't be too sure about that!" Vile shouted from up above. Dropping from the sky came the unmistakable shape of Vile's Goliath ride armor, albeit redesigned with iron, leather and wood, rivets holding it together and blasting steam from its exhaust. And there, sitting in the cockpit, was Vile.

The ride armor landed in front of the pair, slamming its metal spiked hands together as Vile looked on. "I've been practicing. But you know, I wonder," he mused tauntingly, "X tells me you two were pulled out of time after the Doppler incident. I was pulled from the Jakob Project incident. Do you really think in all that time I didn't learn any new tricks?"

Right on cue, ride armor and all. Vile certainly did have a flair for the dramatic, didn't he?

X, on the other hand, wasn't much for scathing banter. He already knew it would be impossible to talk Vile out of this, and trying to provoke one another would just be a waste of breath. Vile's taunt was partially blunted by the simple fact that X had no idea what the Jakob Project was or how far in the future it happened to be, but Vile nonetheless had a point. He already knew what X and Zero were currently capable of, but they had no way of knowing if he had something new up his sleeve. Vile was a dangerous opponent under normal circumstances, let alone when he could be packing advanced weaponry. X glanced over to Zero. They would need to be careful.

X's hand retracted into the nozzle of his X-Buster. "We won't lose, Vile." That was all he had to say; the familiar hum of an arm cannon charging said all he needed to.

"All you have are tricks, and it'll take a lot more than tricks to beat us." Zero didn't know when or what the Jakob Project was, and he didn't particularly care either. He simply activated his saber and nodded to X. "His ride armor isn't as reinforced as it used to be. Aim for the parts holding it together," he muttered to X, preparing to dash away from Vile's initial assault.

((OOC: ))

Vile wasn't in the mood to listen to them. First, soften them up. Goliath may be tough, but it wasn't going to finish the job.

Goliath raised its arm, and charged at the pair, spiked fist extended.
